أكد زعيم التيار الصدري في العراق مقتدى الصدر أنه لن يسمح بتأجيل آخر للانتخابات في البلاد.وكتب على حسابه في تويتر: "إذا بقيت الحياة، فلن أسمح بتأجيل آخر للانتخابات".وأضاف: "خلال هذه الفترة يجب على الجميع التحلي بالروح الوطنية والعمل على إنجاحها وإتمامها على أتم وأجمل وجه والكف عن الصدامات والمهاترات".وتابع: "يجب أن نكون على حذر شديد من تلاعب الفاسدين ومؤامراتهم سواء بما يخص قانون الانتخابات أو التدخل بعمل المفوضية أو غيرها مما يضر الشعب".

وصوت مجلس الوزراء العراقي بالإجماع في جلسته التي عقدها في وقت سابق من اليوم، على تحديد العاشر من أكتوبر المقبل، موعدا لإجراء الانتخابات المبكرة بدلا من السادس من يونيو.وأكد رئيس الحكومة العراقية مصطفى الكاظمي أن "تغيير موعد الانتخابات التشريعية المبكرة في العراق ليس حيادا عن مبدأ إجرائها بل هي قائمة على كل حال".
