تمكنت سفينة صيد من إنقاذ البحار الأسترالي، تيم شادوك، وكلبه بأعجوبة بعد أن أمضيا شهورا في المحيط الهادئ .تم إنقاذ رجل من سيدني، يبلغ من العمر 51 عاما، وكلبه بعد تقطعت بهم السبل في البحر لعدة أشهر، والبقاء على قيد الحياة على نظام غذائي من الأسماك النيئة ومياه الأمطار.
كان تيم شادوك وكلبه بيلا يطفون في المحيط الهادئ لمدة شهرين بعد أن ألحقت عاصفة أضرارا بنظام الإلكترونيات والاتصالات في طوفه، بعد أسابيع فقط من الانقلاعغادر شادوك لاباز في المكسيك في أبريل وكان يحاول الوصول إلى بولينيزيا الفرنسية، على بعد أكثر من 5000 كيلومتر، عندما تضرر قاربه بسبب العاصفة ، بعد أن عثرت عليهما طائرة هليكوبتر تقوم بمراقبة سفينة صيد مكسيكية في 12 يوليو.
