أكد الباحث الفلكي وخبير الأرصاد الجوية السعودي د. خالد الزعاق أن موجة الحر الحقيقية لم تبدأ بعد، مشيرًا إلى أن الفترة الحالية تُعرف بـ«مربعانية القيظ»، فيما تبدأ «قدحة القيظ» بعد نحو 10 أيام، وهي المرحلة الأشد حرارة خلال فصل الصيف.
